Cemetery Rules, Fees and ChargesLast modified: August 21, 2007 - 3:38 PM
This section contains the rules, fees and charges for cemeteries in the Bland Shire. CEMETERY INFORMATIONThe following information relates to those cemeteries under Council's control, located in the towns of Wyalong, Barmedman, Ungarie, Weethalle and Tallimba. Please note the Lawn Cemetery is located in Wyalong only and Niche Walls are located in Wyalong, Ungarie and Weethalle. Cemetery RulesThe following rules are to ensure that all Council cemeteries are maintained to a safe, acceptable and manageable standard and are applicable to all sections of the cemeteries:
How do I reserve an allotment? An allotment in any part of a Cemetery (including the Niche Wall) can be reserved by ringing Council. Council will reserve an allotment and will confirm this reservation in writing. The applicant is responsible for informing family members of the reservation. To secure an allotment a 50% deposit of the total cost must be made. Once this deposit is paid the allotment is confirmed and can be paid off in instalments. The remaining fee can be paid at time of interment. Cost of Reserving an allotment:Wyalong Lawn Cemetery: $700.00 All Memorial Cemeteries $250.00 All Niche Walls: $150.00 For the cost of a Vault in a Memorial Cemetery, please contact Council. Reservation of an allotment site and part payment by instalments does not protect against future prices increases until full payment is made. The fee payable at the time of interment will be the fee adopted by Council at the time, less any deposit or prepayment made. Council allows for the full prepayment of allotments. In this situation the full payment of the allotment protects against future price increases. When an allotment is paid in full a Right of Burial is issued. What is a Right of Burial?Where full payment of an allotment has been received, a Right of Burial Certificate is issued to a person or persons in respect of a specific burial allotment. The Right of Burial confers upon the holder the right to give consent to another person/s to be interred in the allotment. The Right of Burial also gives authority to the holder to determine the wording or otherwise on any plaque. A Right of Burial may be transferred or transmitted with the approval of Council. Burials shall not be permitted in any allotment for which a Right of Burial has been issued, unless the consent in writing of the holder of the Right of Burial is first obtained or the deceased person is the holder of the Right of Burial. Where the holder of the Right of Burial is deceased and a second interment is required, the written consent of the rightful successor of the owner must be produced. Refund of FeesIf the reservation or Right of Burial holder wishes to relinquish their entitlements to Council, they must provide a written request to Council. Council will refund the amount paid at the time of purchase, less an administration charge of $50. If issued, original Right of Burial must be returned to Council along with a written request for a refund, signed by the holder(s) of the Right of Burial. This refund policy also applies to niche wall allotments that have been reserved with Council where the site is unused. How much does it cost for an allotment in the Lawn Cemetery? The current total cost of an allotment for the Lawn Cemetery is $1,400.00. This includes the first internment, supply & fixing of a plaque and perpetual maintenance. For a second internment, the cost is $500.00 which includes the supply & fixing of a detachable plate plaque and perpetual maintenance. All allotments in the Lawn Cemetery are dug to double depth. There is an additional fee of $200.00 for any burials that occur on Weekends and Public Holidays.
