On Friday 25 September 2015 the annual Bland Shire Wildflower Walk took place. It was instigated by Elsie Ellison of West Wyalong, a long term enthusiast who was assisted by her daughter Maree Stockman and granddaughter Linda Thomas. Visitors on the day were guided around sites in the Gubbatta and Naradhan districts, viewing many different native plants that were out in full flower, including some quite stunning and rare orchids It was supported by Bland Shire Council, Lake Cowal Conservation Centre and Riverina Local Land Services at West Wyalong, represented by Glenn Neyland , Mal Carnegie and David Kellett respectively.
Approximately 50-60 people attended the day, with two buses provided free of charge to assist with transportation. A BBQ lunch at Naradhan and morning tea at Maree Stockman’s place was also provided.
