Australia Day in the Bland Shire

Australia Day has grown to become the Bland Shire's biggest annual community event.

The day starts with breakfast in the park in West Wyalong and continues throughout the Shire with events scheduled for Barmedman, Ungarie and Mirrool later in the day.

Bland Shire's Australia Day Ambassador is dual Winter Olympian Hannah Campbell-Pegg.

Celebrations in the Shire include -

West Wyalong

Breakfast in Barnado Park from 7am-9am including  Lions Club breakfast, Australia Day Ambassador address from Hannah Campbell-Pegg, presentation of Bland Shire Australia Day awards and live performances from the Town Band and Town Choir.

The award categories are -

Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year, Achievement in Sport and Contribution to Sport.

People are encouraged to bring a chair. In case of inclement weather the event will be held at the West Wyalong High School MPU.


Community brunch at the Ungarie Memorial Hall. Times TBC.


3pm - 8pm at the Barmedman Mineral Pool: Aquatic activities, waterslide, games, damper cooking comp, lmusic, sausage sizzle, light refreshments at kiosk, raffle.

8pm- 10pm at the Barmedman Mineral Pool:  Dive-In-Movie - big screen poolside cinematic experience featuring late release Aussie movie.


6.30pm: Mirrool community barbecue at Sunshine Park. Lots of entertainment. All welcome.
