Community forums to identify long term priorities

Bland Shire Council will host a series of community forums during February.

Forums will be held in Weethalle, Ungarie, Tallimba and Barmedman as Council hits the road to meet with rural residents to discuss current issues and seek input into their long term vision for the Bland Shire’s future.

Held annually in rural communities across the Shire, the 2017 community forums take on extra special significance as a key community consultation sessions ahead of the development of Council’s draft 10 year Community Strategic Plan later this year.

“The community forums will provide Council with another chance to connect face to face with rural residents,” Bland Shire Council Director of Corporate, Community and Development Services, Adele Casey said.

“It is an opportunity for residents to discuss issues affecting them and their communities and put forward priorities for Council to consider when planning for its long term future.”

The first round of forums will be held on Tuesday 14 February at the Weethalle RFS building at 5.30pm and the Ungarie CWA Hall at 7.30pm.

The second and final round of forums will take place on Thursday 16 February at the Tallimba Hall at 5.30pm and the Old Barmedman Court House at 7.30pm.

In the meantime, Council continues to invite members of the community to provide input into the development of the Community Strategic Plan.

People can contribute online at www.blandshire.nsw.gov.au  by clicking on the “community consultation” tab or write to The General Manager at PO Box 21, West Wyalong, NSW 2671.

“I would encourage all Bland Shire residents to seize the opportunity to have their say on the Bland Shire’s future,” Mrs Casey said.
