Bland Shire Council is establishing a community reference group to seek direct input from the community into the decision making process.
The reference group will replace the former Advisory Committees and will cover a wide range of topics across all areas of Council from heritage to culture and tourism.
The reference group will meet bi-monthly in an informal forum type format which is open to all interested members of the community.
The forums will be chaired by Bland Shire Mayor, Tony Lord and agenda items will be generated from members of the public, Councillors and Council staff.
Any recommendations arising from the forums will be submitted to Council for formal consideration.
Council is currently calling for agenda items for the first meeting of the community reference group on Tuesday 14 March at the Bland Shire Council Chambers at 6.30pm.
Members of the community are invited to submit agenda items to Council via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or in writing to The General Manager PO Box 21, West Wyalong, NSW, 2671 up until Wednesday 1 March.
The agenda will be published in the West Wyalong Advocate on Friday 3 March and on Council’s website at www.blandshire.nsw.gov.au
Bland Shire Council Director of Corporate, Community and Development Services, Adele Casey said the community reference group will give all members of the community an opportunity to engage directly with Council on issues which are important to them.
“Council welcomes the submission of agenda items for the community reference group and the active participation of community members in forum discussions,” Mrs Casey said.
“Council looks forward to working closely with the community to identify and deliver a number of innovative initiatives as a result of the community reference group”.
