Hoodlum Shouts and Life and Limb to headline West Fest

Hoodlum Shouts & Life and Limb are hitting the road this September and October, heading out to Central and Western NSW for a series of exciting shows. Supported by Arts NSW and MusicNSW, these free events will thrill regional audiences.

Hoodlum Shouts are a heavy rock/alternative country band with members in Melbourne and Canberra. They evoke an Australian sense of space and time in their music, with songs about colonialism, growing up, Australian history, and rugby league. Their recent full length record Young Man Old Man “taps into our imagined Australia: humid taverns, Nullarbor drives and rusty tin sheds sitting on stretches of red sand...” (Mess and Noise). Their sound has been compared to Midnight Oil, The Drones, and Isis.

Life & Limb are a melodic punk band with members in Sydney, Canberra, and Ballarat. They play upbeat, abrasive songs about alienation, isolation, and celebration that will resonate with regional audiences. Billed by Metal Obsession as “one of the more interesting bands making the rounds in the Canberra, and perhaps Australian music scene,” Life and Limb are an exciting young up-and-coming act. They draw influences from Australian punk bands like The Saints and Radio Birdman, as well as post-punk and post-hardcore bands like Devo and Fugazi.

The shows are being funded under Arts NSW’s Regional Performing Arts Touring program, and are designed to take these bands’ unique music and powerful live shows to residents of regional NSW. The bands are playing a series of free shows in Dubbo, Cobar, Broken Hill, West Wyalong, and Young.

The bands will be playing at West Wyalong’s West Fest on October 3. West Fest is a youth festival taking place at Holland Park Pool from midday until 5pm, organised by Bland Shire Council.

Headline by Hoodlum Shouts and Life and Limb, the day will feature free entry, temporary tattoos, slushies, soft serves and more as well as competitions on the waterslide and inflatable. More details are available at
