Library Lovers Week

The Bland Shire Library will celebrate Library Lovers Week from February 11-16.

Valentine’s Day has been renamed Library Lovers Day in the library as part of the celebrations during which two lucky people who borrow from the library will win a pamper pack.

Everyone who borrows an item during the week will go into the draw and the winners will be announced on Monday February 18 on the library’s Facebook page.

This is a perfect time to visit your library and rediscover what the library has to offer. Our collections include the latest fiction, large print fiction, non-fiction, the latest magazines, DVDs and talking books. We also subscribe to a wide range of local, regional and state newspapers.  We also have lots of material suitable for children and young adults including the latest fiction books, a HSC collection and resources to assist with school assignments.

The library also provides a housebound service for members of the community who are unable to visit the library. For adults it also offers book clubs and a Knit and Natter group. For children it provides weekly story time for preschool aged children on a Thursday and baby bounce every Friday during the school term. During the school holidays the library offers school holiday programs for school aged children.

In addition we provide free Internet access for library members in addition to the wireless Internet service that is provided. The library subscribes to a range of services that are available from the Bland Shire website. You can access the online catalogue, access a range of online databases including yourtutor  and World Book Encyclopedia. We also have a subscription to E-audio books that can be accessed from the Bland Shire Council website at www.blandshire.nsw.gov.au
