Bland Shire Mobile Resource Unit in recess at Barmedman

Last modified: February 13, 2009 - 9:10 AM

Media Release 13 February 2009

The Bland Shire Mobile Resource Unit provided fortnightly play groups to the Barmedman Community for many years but due to lack of attendance recently, this service has been placed into recess.

Play groups cater to families with children 0-5 years old and provide opportunities for children and their parents/carers to gather socially and gain and develop new skills, whilst having fun. This resource has always been a valuable part of the Bland Shire Community but must receive support from families for it to remain viable.

"It was a very hard decision to make but we had to adapt to the current climate." Bland Shire's Mobile Resource Unit Coordinator, Julia Moore, said. "At the moment there is not enough interest generated to keep the Barmedman unit running, however, we will constantly reassess the situation and hopefully it will reopen in the future".

This session could be reinstated if interest is shown and the community lends its support once again.

Play groups are now available in West Wyalong, Wyalong, Ungarie, Caragabal, Quandialla, Ariah Park and Weethalle.
