Community Input sought on Councillor Expenses and Facilities PolicyLast modified: December 4, 2006 - 11:09 AM
Bland Shire Council is currently seeking community input on its Councillor Expense and Facilities Policy. “The Councillor Expense and Facilities Policy has been developed to ensure that there is accountability and transparency in the payment of expenses incurred, or to be incurred, by our Councillors” said Bland Shire Council’s Acting General Manager Peta Robertson. The Policy was first adopted in November 2005 and must be reviewed within five months of the end of each financial year in accordance with the provisions of Section 252 of the Local Government Amendment Act 2005. Section 253 of the Act, also states that before adopting or amending the policy, Council must give at least 28 days’ public notice of the proposal.“The policy stipulates Council’s position on the incurring of and reimbursement of costs associated with Councillor’s civic duties such as travel, legal assistance, conferences and child and carer expenses. It also states what equipment and facilities Council will provide Councillors to assist them in their duties” added Ms Robertson.The policy is open to community input from Monday 4 December 2006 until 5pm Monday 8 January 2007. The policy may be viewed at the Bland Shire Council Administration Building, downloaded below, or requested from Council by phoning 02 6972 2266.Written submissions on the Councillor Expense and Facilities Policy are to be submitted to the General Manager, Bland Shire Council, PO Box 21, West Wyalong NSW 2671 within the public exhibition period.Download document Contact details |
