Bland Shire Council Ranger Barry Cooper RetiresMedia Release 21 February 2008 After some 14 years in local government as the town ranger, Barry Cooper has decided that it is now time to retire. Mr Cooper said he would be leaving Bland Shire Council in a strong position to meet future challenges thanks to the support of a strong community and the hard work of Council staff and councillors. "West Wyalong and the Bland Shire have been a wonderful place to work as a ranger, it is an area of continuing and energetic growth, and it has been great to work outdoors and see it develop around me," said Mr Cooper. "I am ready to retire, and pursue other interests but am inspired by the level of commitment and loyalty of council staff and their passion for this area. I shall of course, continue to be an active member of the community," added Mr Cooper. Acting Director of Community Services, Adele Casey, said that staff and councillors have found Mr Coopers experience, passion, commitment and local knowledge invaluable to the role of ranger over the past 14 years. "It is a role that will be difficult to replace." A robust recruitment process has been put into place to find a suitable replacement for the position of council ranger. In the meantime if there are any issues that require the services of the ranger please call 6972 2266 at all times. Contact details |
