2 Minutes 2L8 - Patrick Chaffer, Travis Andrews, Andrew Linsdell and Brady Souden.

Media Release 13 March 2008

Local youth band, 2 Minutes 2L8, is set to increase their number of live performances thanks to a couple of very successful sessions over the recent summer including the West Wyalong Christmas Carnival and Holland Park Australia Day Pool Party that were both put on by the Bland Shire Council.

The four boys that make up the group include; Pat (vocals), Travis (bass), Andrew (guitar) and Brady (drums) are all in their final year of the HSC at West Wyalong High School. They do however, plan to stay together after school has finished.

The group describes their music as a real mix of popular covers. "We cater for music that appeals to the youth market," said bass player Travis.

The band provides a great opportunity for young people to experience live, popular music in a safe, supervised environment. It is an opportunity that can't be passed by," said Bland Shire Council's Youth Development Officer Michele Carnegie.

2 Minutes 2L8 formed in 2006 and are rather unique in the way that each member is self taught. The band hope to record some time in the near future and are excited about the prospect of making a demo tape.

"We've come a really long way considering we started out practicing at Andrew's house," said drummer Brady.

As with any new business, the band members are quickly learning what an expensive exercise it is to become established.

"We have had to borrow some of the gear from friends for the larger performances because everything is so expensive, we have to think about instruments, speakers, event insurance, publicity, recording costs, travel and heaps more," said guitarist Andrew.

"We have been saving money from birthday's and Christmas's to help pay for new gear and the gigs that we have played at have really helped out, it's a pretty slow process though," said singer Pat.

"It is important for the community to get behind local talent.  Demonstrating community support for 2 minutes 2 L8 will encourage others to step up and share their talents with the wider community, creating a future for live entertainment in the Bland Shire" said Michele.

Bland Shire Council is planning to utilise the popular band once again as a headline act in the coming months.  Stay Tuned!
