Expression of Interest – Visitor Information ServicesMedia Release 26 March 2008 Bland Shire Council is currently looking at relocating its Visitor Information Services to several smaller collection points throughout the community and is currently calling for expressions of interest from parties wishing to provide one of these service points. In a move that will benefit both the Council and travellers to the town, it is envisaged that small information racks be installed in businesses houses across the towns of Wyalong and West Wyalong. This will ensure extended operating hours, easier access to information for travellers, and more opportunities for the promotion of our Shire. A larger centre will be provided at the Bland Shire Council Library, and operators hosting a stand will be encouraged to refer any difficult questions to this centre either by phoning or encouraging visitors to stop in. Businesses should see this as a wonderful opportunity to increase their customers, it is important however, to consider the many questions, requests and extra time that will be taken serving the needs of visitors. A good general knowledge of the local area, and the travelling routes surrounding our town is an essential requirement of providing this service. Council will provide successful applicants with basic infrastructure, brochures and signage to commence the service, in return for the collection of some basic visitor statistics. For further information please contact Maggie Westbrook, on 6972 3645 or email mwestbrook@blandshire.nsw.gov.au Expressions of interest, detailing your ability and intent in hosting an information point need to be received in writing by Friday 11 April, to Maggie Westbrook, PO Box 21 West Wyalong NSW 2671.
