Council Awards Three Scholarships
Media Release 21 May 2008 Three young local people have been awarded scholarships by the Bland Shire Council for study at Charles Sturt University. For several years, Council's scholarship program has been designed to assist local students with the cost of their tertiary education, particularly as we do not have a campus in our Shire. Council's General Manager, Phil Marshall, said that by supporting local students through these scholarships Council is able to demonstrate a commitment to young people within the Shire, while showing an appreciation for the difficulties that can be encountered financially for students wishing to attend university away from home. "The students awarded scholarships this year are all studying courses where there are definite skill shortages both in the Bland Shire, and Australia wide," added Mr Marshall. Students selected this year include; Ricky Daniher who is studying a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science, Nicola Lamb who is studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Matthew Lanyon who is studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational Therapy). The scholarship awards each student with $3000 to contribute towards the cost of attending university. Contact details |
