Council receives $20 000 for Outdoor Fitness EquipmentMedia Release 20 June 2008 Bland Shire residents will be one step closer to achieving their exercise goals following Bland Shire Council's successful ‘"Active communities" grant application of $20 000 from the NSW Greater Southern Area Health Service. Funding will be spent on the installation of outdoor fitness equipment which will be placed at various locations around the town of West Wyalong. The project will include provisions for equipment, rubber softfall and informational signage. Bland Shire Councils General Manager, Phil Marshall, said the funding will provide a wonderful opportunity for residents to participate in fitness activities that are easily accessible at any time, are enjoyable and free. "The outdoor equipment will help the people of the Bland Shire to exercise and remain healthy," said Mr Marshall. "The equipment will be located in current parks around the town, so it will be an ideal activity for whole families to enjoy," added Mr Marshall. Council will receive the funding in July 2008 and installation will occur soon after this date. Contact details |
