Writing Workshop at Bland Shire library

Narrandera based author Rozanne Gilbert will present a writing workshop at the Bland Shire library on Monday, March 11.

The workshop will be aimed at people who enjoy writing for pleasure or are interested in getting started. To make maximum impact, she plans to tailor the 90 minute workshop specific to the group in attendance but has already confirmed her intent to address topics such as getting into the habit of writing and copyright issues.

Ms Gilbert also plans to touch on the subject of family history to assist those who are in the process of or planning to write their family history. The workshop will commence at 10.30am and be followed by a light lunch.

She has a wonderful story to share about her love for writing and the incredible, rewarding and ongoing personal journey that passion has taken her on.

Ms Gilbert has a secretarial and conference background and was office manager at the head office of the Cancer Council Australia before relocating to the Riverina.

She opted for a lifestyle change in 2003 and purchased a cottage in Narrandera. She moved in 2005, commenced her own secretarial business and promptly threw herself into voluntary community work while also quietly pursuing her passion for writing.

She began submitting a regular column in the regional press and in 2009 enrolled in a writing course at Riverina TAFE’s Narrandera Campus.

With her passion for the written word strong than ever, over the past three years Ms Gilbert has built up a sizeable portfolio of publishable short stories, over 100 poems and various journalistic works.

In 2012, Ms Gilbert received Riverina TAFE’s Academic Excellence Award in Language, Literacy and Numeracy. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Management Communications and is in the throes of completing a comprehensive writing course through the Writers Bureau in the UK.
