Bland Shire Council will host a meet the candidates forum in West Wyalong on Monday night ahead of the upcoming by-election for the state seat of Cootamundra.

Local residents and voters from across the electorate will have the opportunity to hear from each of the candidates and quiz them on a range of issues prior to casting their ballot five days later.

The meet the candidates forum will be held in the Bland Shire Council Chambers at 7pm on Monday 9 October with most of the by-election candidates confirming their attendance including (in order of ballot paper) Greens candidate Jeffrey Passlow, Shooters Party candidate Matthew Stadtmiller, Labor’s Charlie Sheahan and the Nationals’ Steph Cooke.

The session will be convened by Bland Shire Mayor, Tony Lord and commence with each of the candidates delivering a brief personal biography and their reasons for standing for election.

Chairperson of Business West Wyalong, Jill Funnell, will then ask each of the candidates a series of set questions before questions are invited from the floor.

The forum will be one of the final opportunities for voters to hear from the candidates prior to election day.
