The State Government has introduced a series of reforms for NSW Local Government called Fit for the Future.
Under Fit for the Future Council was required to submit a proposal by 30 June 2015 to demonstrate that it is financially sound, operating efficiently and in a strong position to guide community growth and deliver quality services.
All Council's in NSW were required to submit a proposal to the State Government addressing criteria in the areas of scale, capacity and financial health.
Bland Shire Council submitted a proposal under the Council Improvement Model (Template 2) including various strategies to strengthen our operations and improve efficiencies to enable Council to work towards meeting the benchmarks set by Fit for the Future.
Like many Council’s in rural and regional NSW we face a challenge in maintaining and renewing or roads, buildings, sporting fields and parklands and sustaining our current levels of service into the future.
