Bland Shire Council is transforming its upstairs foyer into an open art gallery for local and regional artists to showcase their works.

The Bland Shire Open Gallery will provide artists with an opportunity to display their work in a series of exhibitions held throughout each year.

The gallery will provide public access seven days a week during normal operating hours of the Bland Shire Visitor Information Centre. It will be able to be accessed via the staircase in the Council foyer during the week or via the lift seven days a week.

Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from artists to exhibit their work at the Bland Shire Open Gallery.

In a further effort to assist the local art community, exhibited items can be listed for sale through the exhibition at a price set by the artist and released to the buyer at the conclusion of each exhibition or by special request.

Each exhibition will be on display for a period of four months and be launched with a special morning tea on opening day.

Artworks need to be no smaller than A4 size and no larger than 600mm (height) by 1000mm and either framed or on stretch canvas. Not all artworks will necessarily be displayed as part of the exhibition with each expression of interest assessed by Council staff. Depending on the success of the wall art display Council will consider adding additional art mediums to the collection.

Expression of interest forms and more information are available from Council’s offices or by phoning 02 6972 2266.
