West Wyalong Pound and Ranger Information

This section contains useful information on services provided by the West Wyalong Pound and the Ranger.

Lost Dogs and Cats

If your pet has gone missing, you need to report it to Council within 72 hours by phoning 69722266 during office hours. Council is legally obliged to pick up any lost or stray animals roaming in a public area.

Caring for Dogs and Cats

Cat and Dog breeds have their own unique temperaments so when thinking about getting a cat or dog, it is important to investigate the breed and whether or not it will fit into your lifestyle.

How to sell or give away a Dog

Selling or giving away a cat or dog? You play a critical role in providing for the welfare of cats and dogs that you sell or rehome. This information will help you to meet your responsibilities.

Dog Attacks

Section 16 of the Companion Animals Act 1998 states that an attack is where a dog rushes at, attacks, bites, harasses, or chases any person or animal (other than vermin) whether or not any injury is caused.

Heat Stress in Animals

It is vital that animals have constant access to both water and shade as heat stress can develop extremely quickly in hot weather during summer. Owners need to ensure their pets are kept safe, cool and hydrated.
