West Wyalong Sewerage Treatment Facility

The sewerage treatment facility located along Neeld Street, Wyalong services the townships of West Wyalong and Wyalong.

The sewerage treatment plant is a Pasveer Channel and has a capacity of 4000 equivalent population. The channels use aerators to supply oxygen and generate flow, which keeps solids suspended to allow microorganisms to break down matter.

There are ponds that provide primary, secondary and tertiary treatment.

The sewerage reticulation system utilises gravity in most areas, however, has eight (8) pumps with rising mains to assist in forcing the wastewater to the sewerage treatment plant.

The majority of the sewerage reticulation system (pipes and manholes) was built in 1942 with extensions of the system undertaken in various locations of growth associated with development. The reticulation system is 48,000 metres and services approximately 1,785 dwellings.

West Wyalong and Wyalong Recycled Water

Recycled water system in operation services and irrigates several parks, ovals and the Wyalong cemetery.

The recycled water reuse provides environmental, economic and community benefits. Bland Shire Council’s reuse system creates a reliable, weather-independent water supply that can be essential during our dry climate periods.
