Bland Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal from the West Wyalong Show Society to support a part-day public holiday for the 2027 and 2028 West Wyalong Shows. Community consultation is required before any application can be made to the NSW Government. Have your say by completing the survey before 30 September 2026.
Bland Shire Council services will be closed on Monday October 5 due to the Labour Day public holiday in NSW. This includes Bland Shire Council office, Library, Visitor Information Centre, West Wyalong and Ungarie Landfills, Bland Community Care and the Bland Preschool.Garbage collections will remain unchanged.Bland Shire Council services will reopen as normal on Tuesday 6 October 2026.
Barmedman Mineral Pool is a large therapeutic pool that is said to ease aches and pains due to the high mineral content. The pool is fed by an underground stream and is surrounded by shady grassed areas.
The popular pool has its origins in the flooding of the Barmedman goldmines by an underground stream. It now has a kiosk (open in summer), barbecues, and change rooms. The pool is located within a four hectare reserve and is a popular destination for locals and visitors including caravan and campervans.
