Re-awakening Aboriginal Place Names in the Bland Shire

A cultural initiative by Riverina Local Land Services, West Wyalong Aboriginal Land Council, and Bland Shire Council to restore Wiradjuri place names and preserve local heritage.

Booberoi Hills (Back Creek) – Burbirra: Aboriginal women drumming

Tallimba – Dhalymbang: Hard stone axe

Ungarie (Bing Wallder Park) – Yunggaay: Malleefowl

Cooinda Reserve, Wyalong – Waaylang: Hard-shelled nut

Signage at each site was painted by Kheely Turner, a proud Wiradjuri and Ngiyampaa artist.
