Planning Advice
Council's development and regulatory service officers are available to discuss any proposed development and advise of issues that should be considered during the design phase.
You can submit a planning enquiry by completing the online form here
Duty Planner
Council provides a free duty planning service between the hours of 10am and 12pm Tuesday to Friday.
During this time, a duty planner and/or building surveyor are available either in person at our offices at 6 Shire Street, West Wyalong or on the phone to answer questions you may have about the planning system, your development and about what you can do on your land.
This advice is provided in good faith, free of charge and is for guidance only. Please call 02 6972 2266.
Pre–DA (Development Application) meeting
For more complex applications it is recommended that you book in for a Pre-DA meeting with Council.
At this meeting, a Planner and other relevant staff will be available to provide feedback and advice on your proposed development. This is a good opportunity to get an understanding of whether the development is viable and what constraints and/or requirements may need to be addressed.
A Pre-DA meeting is NOT recommended for minor development such as sheds, pools, decks, dwellings and the like and is recommended only for larger more complex developments and highly constrained sites.
Pre-DA meetings can be booked using the following form:

Once a planner has received your booking request, they will be in touch to organise a suitable time. The meetings are scheduled for 1 hour and can be held by zoom/teams if required.
What to bring to a Pre-DA meeting?
- concept plans of the development
- site plan
- any other supporting documentation
Council officers are not able to assess Development Applications prior to lodgement and no undertakings or guarantees of approval can be made by Council officers prior to formal assessment of a DA. However, early consultation can bring to light many issues that may inform your design process.
Once a Development Application is lodged, public notification occurs and a detailed and independent assessment of the DA is carried out in accordance with the assessment criteria under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
