PUBLIC EXHIBITION NOTICE

Proposed Amendment to Bland Shire Development Control Plan 2012 – Active Street Frontage Requirement

Bland Shire Council is seeking public feedback on a proposed amendment to the Bland Development Control Plan (DCP) 2012, which aims to introduce an Active Street Frontage Requirement for developments along Main Street, West Wyalong.

At its Ordinary Meeting held on 17 June 2025, Council resolved to publicly exhibit the proposed amendment for a period of 28 days, commencing Thursday, 19 June 2025.

Purpose of the Amendment:

The proposed amendment seeks to preserve and enhance the commercial and retail character of Main Street by introducing additional development controls under:

  • Section 3, Table PD12 – Single dwellings in the B2 Local Centre Business Zone;
  • Section 4, Table PMD10 – Multi-dwelling developments in the B2 zone;
  • Section 5.0.3 – Commercial, Business and Retail Development.

These controls will ensure that:

  • Ground floor frontages on Main Street are predominantly used for commercial or retail purposes;
  • New developments provide active and engaging street interfaces;
  • Design elements such as glazing, pedestrian access, and limited blank walls contribute to a vibrant and safe streetscape.
